1970 - A young engineer called Romano Volta sees optic electronics as the frontier field for business. He begins to design and produce photoelectric sensors to respond to the new requirements of the textile, ceramic and packaging industries.

1972 - In the quiet rectory of a little church in the 'Quarto Inferiore' quarter of Bologna, the engineer Romano Volta creates Datalogic together with two technicians.

1974 - The company starts to grow on the international field, the sales and customer service network is strengthened with the creation of subsidiaries in the most important European countries.

1978 - Datalogic Incorporated (S.p.A.) is born.
